Joy and Beauty of Data

Prerequisite(s): appropriate math placement test score of M94 or better, a grade of "C" or better in M 65~, or instructor consent. This foundation course introduces students to the Python programming language and the fundamental principles of computer science. Students develop problem-solving skills by writing programs that use variables, functions, arrays, and classes to model and analyze data. Through hands-on exercises, learners explore lists, files, dictionaries, and object-oriented programming while gaining an introduction to data science concepts and libraries used to manipulate and visualize data. The course provides a solid foundation for continued study in software development, data analytics, and machine learning.
